1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Local Life is provided by Garbæk IT, CVR 21664480, Thybovej 13, 8620 Kjellerup, Denmark (“Garbæk IT”, “we”, “us”). Contact: support@garbaek.it.
These terms cover the Local Life browser game, the portable Windows executable, the main Android game APK, Local Life: Move for Android, the Local Life account and cloud services, and the website at locallifegame.com (together, the “Services”).
2. Acceptance
By creating an account, using the browser game, or downloading, installing, or using an app, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the linked Privacy Policy. Website downloads require an acceptance checkbox before the file is provided.
If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Services. If you are under the age required to enter this agreement where you live, a parent or legal guardian must approve your use. The Services are not intended for children under 13.
3. Alpha status and data resets
The Services are in active alpha development and are provided for testing and entertainment. They may be incomplete, unstable, insecure, unavailable, or incompatible with a device. Features, game balance, file formats, minimum requirements, and online services may change or be removed.
Player accounts, characters, saves, routes, activity history, statistics, rewards, virtual balances, and other data may be corrected, rolled back, reset, migrated, or permanently deleted at any time, with or without notice. Do not rely on Local Life as the only copy of information important to you. Virtual currency, property, achievements, and other game items have no cash value and are not guaranteed to persist.
Where reasonably practical, we may announce planned material resets, but we do not promise advance notice or recovery of alpha data.
4. Licence and permitted use
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for lawful, non-commercial entertainment and testing. You may install the downloadable apps on devices you own or control.
You may not sell, sublicense, redistribute, impersonate another person, interfere with service operation, bypass security or rate limits, automate abusive access, introduce malicious code, scrape private data, cheat in ways that harm others or public statistics, or reverse engineer the Services except where applicable law expressly permits it.
5. Accounts and security
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, protecting your password and devices, and activity performed through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account is compromised. We may restrict or suspend accounts to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or maintain the Services.
Password-reset emails may be requested through the website recovery page. Recovery links are time-limited and should not be shared.
6. Downloads, device permissions, and safety
The Windows and Android downloads are experimental direct-distribution builds. Windows SmartScreen or Android may display warnings. Verify that downloads come from locallifegame.com and keep your operating system and security software updated.
The Android game may request location access to create local gameplay. Local Life: Move requests location and foreground-service permissions to record walking and cycling, including while an activity is running in the background. You control these permissions in Android settings. Do not interact with the app while driving or where doing so would be unsafe or unlawful.
7. Communications and newsletters
We may send essential account, security, recovery, service, and material terms/privacy notices when necessary to provide or protect the Services.
Product newsletters and promotional email are separate. Account creation alone does not subscribe you. We will send a monthly newsletter only if you separately opt in, and every newsletter will provide an unsubscribe method. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect your account.
8. Location, user content, and third-party services
You remain responsible for information you submit and for ensuring you have the right to submit it. You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, back up, and display that information as required to operate the Services.
Local Life uses map data from OpenStreetMap contributors and may connect to services such as Supabase infrastructure and, only when you choose the feature, Bluesky. Third-party services have their own terms and availability. We are not responsible for third-party services beyond obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Intellectual property
Local Life, its original code, design, writing, graphics, branding, and game content belong to Garbæk IT or its licensors. Open-source components and third-party data remain subject to their respective licences and attribution requirements. These terms do not transfer ownership to you.
10. Availability, warranties, and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the free alpha Services are supplied “as is” and “as available”, without promises of uninterrupted availability, compatibility, fitness for a particular purpose, preservation of data, or freedom from defects. You are responsible for suitable device backups and for evaluating whether alpha software is appropriate for you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Garbæk IT is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost progress, lost virtual items, loss caused by unsupported devices, or data loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory rights you have as a consumer, including rights relating to digital content or services.
11. Ending use and account action
You may stop using the Services at any time and request account or personal-data deletion by contacting us. Uninstalling an app does not by itself delete server-side account data. We may suspend or end access for material or repeated breach, security risk, unlawful use, discontinued services, or alpha resets.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the alpha evolves. Material changes will be presented through the website, game, or account email where appropriate. The effective date above identifies the current version. If you do not accept a material change, you must stop using the Services.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Danish law. Courts in Denmark have jurisdiction, but this does not deprive a consumer of mandatory protections or courts available under the law of their country of residence. Contact support@garbaek.it first so we can try to resolve a concern.
